Sunday is Food Bank Sunday, a time to gather food and funds for the Billings Food Bank.
New and expanding services lead to a variety of needs. Examples include the sack lunch street outreach and youth programs. Needs include lunch meats, sliced cheese, small bags of chips or other "go-withs," such as individual-sized fruits, pudding, etc., fresh fruits and vegetables, sandwich bags and sack lunch bags.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh eggs, milk and margarine are also items needed to help families, seniors and youth programs. Items requiring refrigeration should not be left in the food bank barrels; they should be delivered to the food bank, or call for pickup.
The Billings Food Bank can use any available produce. By planting a row or two or an entire garden, you will help provide nutritious, locally grown food to your neighbors. If you would be interested in helping with a large community garden, call Sheryle.
Eggs are also greatly appreciated, as are beef, pork, chicken, turkey and other fresh meats.
For more information on Billings Food Bank programs, to have donations picked up, to volunteer or to request a speaker, call the food bank at 259-2856.
Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated. Many opportunities are available.
