RiverStone Health Hospice Services will host a free BraveHearts grief support summer camp for children and teenagers who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
This group, for youth ages 5 to 17 years, will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for two weeks beginning June 18 at St. Thomas Parish, 2055 Woody Drive. The sessions are June 18-20 and June 25-27.
The program, led by a social worker, gives participants a chance to explore and express their grief as well as remember and cherish special memories through art, play and sharing. The summer program provides fun, hands-on activities that help young people remember their loved ones in positive ways and gives them tools to voice their feelings and cope with grief.
BraveHearts is a program to acknowledge children’s grief and to give them opportunities to say goodbye, said Roxanne Allen, RN, of RiverStone Health Hospice Services.
