Image Builders - 5427 Green Teal Lane
According to Ty Lantis of Image Builders, the house at 5427 Green Teal Lane is, “So customized for the owners that it is not something you see every day.” But it is the functionality beneath the gloss that makes this house really work.
The house exudes class—from the front porch and impressive Mission front door and traditional Craftsman built-in bench just inside, to where the foyer spans two floors.
A few steps in to the left, past glass slider doors, the board-and-batten-dressed formal dining room has room enough for holiday dinners. It then leads into a formal living room through another transom doorway. The white-painted box-beam ceilings raise the formal factor of these rooms, while the simple, white-painted trim throughout the house keeps it from getting too serious.
Step from the living room into the kitchen and one knows why it is called the heart of the home. Literally in the center, this area is anchored by a midnight-black island of simple shaker cabinets while the perimeter cupboards are painted the same warm white as the molding. Stainless steel, top-of-the-line appliances, including double ovens, warming drawer and drop-in stovetop, make this kitchen cook.
Directly across from the work center, the owners opted for a practical beverage bar that includes a wine cooler and ice maker. Directly behind the kitchen, a six-by-eight-foot pantry stores the goods. At the far end of the kitchen is a “gathering” room that features a gas fireplace with traditional Craftsman built-ins, a flatscreen TV centered above and two waist-height windows allow for maximum natural light. Across from this cozy area is the breakfast nook, adjacent to patio sliders that lead to the home’s crown jewel—the backyard pool.
This area features a custom-built, covered patio, outdoor kitchen, raised gas fire pit and even a slide for the in-ground pool. One look at this space, visitors will never want to never leave. Overhead, a ceiling fan creates a slight breeze. The whole-house sound adds atmosphere and the beadboard ceiling echoes the front porch ambiance.
The remainder of the main floor includes a spacious en suite bedroom with walk-in closet for long-term guests, a compact laundry room and an ingenious “drop center” for mail, keys and recharging electronic devices.
Up the traditional Craftsman stair—steps-landing-steps-landing—another built-in bench provides a cozy reading nook then opens up to the family’s private relaxing area, complete with another flatscreen TV and more built-ins for movies and the like. Directly across, on an angle for emphasis, double doors open to reveal the master suite. The angled construction, lit, ledged-tray ceiling and secondary double doors to the bath make this room truly unique. “Everything here is so simple, yet it’s classy,” notes Lantis.
Within the bath the under-mounted soaking tub is surrounded by the same cream quartz as the his/her sinks. The shower is a masterpiece of subway and deco tile that exudes mod-yet-stately feel to the multi-jet steam shower.
The upstairs also features a small laundry room and two bedrooms with walk-in closets, connected by a Jack-and-Jill bath. In here the cabinets have little legs for a real furniture feel and the mirrors are framed with simple Craftsman molding.
Little details throughout, like a dog-washing station in the garage and built-in gear cubbies truly make this house a custom home.
