Kenmark Construction, 3131 Iron Horse Trail #16

Set in the sage- and pine-covered landscape of Rehberg Ranch, above the Rims, the orange tones of #16 townhome’s exterior at 3131 Iron Horse Trail make this house stand out. With a variety of lines—vertical, horizontal and diagonal—the exterior is a study in architecture with an invitation to explore more.

Step inside the mission-style front door into a comfortable contemporary haven, anchored by a central metal beam that runs the width of the house. Denise Audet, designer with Cabinet Works, notes that Kenmark Builders want to showcase a different style of house, outside of the norm, one that features more metal, steel and pops of color.

The modern fireplace, which anchors the social area of the great room, hits that mark. With a punch of deep apple green encased by two pieces of corrugated steel on the vertical, it rises more than 18 feet from the top of the gas insert to the ceiling.

The minimalist aesthetic carries into the kitchen area, which is dominated by a locally-made, brushed stainless steel island, sized 88-inches by 40-inches, with room for three. The same stainless steel carries over to the hardware on the java-stained adler, shaker-style cabinet doors. Iridescent glass subway tiles in blue, green, gray and purple tones add warmth to this stylish kitchen while integrated LED lighting, above and below cabinets and also along the toe kick, adds flair. Suspended from the ceiling, a metal grid creates an awning to define the kitchen within the great space.

Cross the dining area for a quick step onto the deck with its iron balusters and stunning views. Then enter the master bedroom via the deck for a circuitous route. Starting with in-glass shades, this room features LED-lit soffits to create a private, relaxing atmosphere that carries into the master bath—the perfect spa-like escape with his-and-her square sinks and 24-inch, almond porcelain tile floor.

The metal railing of the stairs carries that contemporary feeling from the main floor throughout the rest of the house. The second story features two additional bedrooms and a big screen TV viewing area complete with surround sound. One bedroom can function as a second master suite while the other, across the TV room, could be a quiet corner office.

While the simple elegance of the main floor plan does offer an ample laundry area, the unfinished daylight basement has logically been plumbed for a second laundry in addition to a fourth bedroom and family room areas.
