Due to overwhelming demand, the Central Montana Education Center in Lewistown has added an additional elk viewing tour on Oct. 1.
CMEC is partnering with the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge to offer people a unique experience this fall at the Slippery Ann elk viewing area, during the peak of the elk rut.
Participants will depart from the Fergus High School parking lot at 4 p.m. and return from the Slippery Ann area to Lewistown around 9 p.m. Participants must preregister by stopping in at the center office on 773 Airport Road, or by calling 406-535-9022. A small fee per person will be assessed. Participants should bring a sack lunch and folding chair. A box lunch with beverage is available for a minimal fee but must be ordered by Wednesday.
CMR will provide spotting scopes, binoculars and refuge staff will accompany the tour to help interpret the experience.
