Borthers Brenner and Jason Flaten teamed up to win the first leg of the 2018 Montana Cats Circuit by boating 35.68 pounds of catfish on Saturday.
The 12th annual Yellowstone Challenge, held out of Huntley, featured 49 boats. The weather was in the 40s with light showers, but anglers still caught the best weights in tournament history. The top three teams all broke the previous tournament record of 33.09 pounds, a record that had stood for seven years. Thirty-three teams weighed in more than 20 pounds on the four-fish limit.
The other top five finishers were: 2) Randy Franco (Billings) / Nick Fortier (Billings) 34.46; 3) Dan LaPierre (Billings) / Jennifer LaPierre (Billings) 33.26; 4) Steve Harris Jr. (Sidney) / Steve Harris Sr.(Sidney) 28.97; 5) George Stuckers Jr. (Sidney) / Geroge Stuckers Sr. (Worden,) 28.33.
The next tourney on the circuit is the 19th annual Milk River Catfish Classic to be held on Saturday June 2, out of Glasgow.
