The Beartooth Ranger District is hosting the Elk Full Moon Walk on June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Beartrack Trailhead.
The featured speakers will be: Shawn Stewart, wildlife biologist for Fish Wildlife and Parks, who will discuss elk and elk habitats; and Jon Trapp, who will talk about wolves, their habitat and their relationship with elk.
To find the Beartrack Trailhead, drive about 8 miles south of Red Lodge on Highway 212. Follow the signs and turn right into the trailhead parking lot. The walk will continue a short distance up the trail, dependent upon weather conditions and the group’s physical limitations.
The walk is held two nights before the full moon to take advantage of the earlier moonrise.
