Canyon Ferry: One man died and two ice anglers' vehicles broke through the ice at Canyon Ferry Reservoir over the weekend, prompting the Broadwater County Sheriff's Office to issue a closure to all motorized travel on the lake due to unsafe ice conditions.

Hauser: Rainbow action is good below Canyon Ferry Dam while using egg sacks. Ice anglers are catching rainbows on pink ice jigs tipped with a maggot at Black Sandy and the Causeway in 10 feet of water. Perch and walleye fishing are slow. Ice at the Causeway is 0 to 8 inches deep; however, it can be quite variable in spots. There is 14 inches of ice at Black Sandy. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Holter: Rainbows are being caught near the Holter Lake ramp, Departure Point and Black Beach in 5-10 feet of water. Pink or green ice jigs tipped with a maggot seems to be working best. Perch and walleye fishing is slow. There is 8 to 9 inches of ice near the Holter Lake Ramp and around Log Gulch. Ice is breaking up along the shoreline, so use caution. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir: Kokanee fishing is slow with some salmon being caught on jigs and corn in 20-25 feet of water. There is 14-16 inches of ice. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
