Glasgow resident Andrew McKean, an outdoor columnist on Sundays for The Billings Gazette and the hunting editor of Outdoor Life magazine, has been promoted to editor of Outdoor Life.
McKean, 45, has served as hunting editor for the past four years. He will keep that role as well as Outdoor Life's optics editor.
The February issue of the magazine, McKean's first as editor, debuts a new look for the publication as well as a yearlong project looking at ways to improve public access to hunting and fishing resources.
"I started reading Outdoor Life when I was a young boy," McKean said. "Being able to continue to contribute to that 114-year tradition of excellence is an honor."
Prior to joining Outdoor Life as a staff editor, McKean contributed to the magazine as a freelancer for several years. Previously he worked for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks as an information officer in Glasgow and served as an editor with Fishing and Hunting News.
