A mountain lion meeting will be held on Thursday in Three Forks.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will hold a public meeting on Thursday to discuss mountain lion management and tentative quotas for the 2014 mountain lion hunting season in Region 3.

The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Methodist Church Annex (114 E. Cedar St.) in Three Forks.

FWP staff will present current mountain lion management and harvest data. In addition, Region 2 wildlife manager Mike Thompson and Kelly Proffitt will be on hand to talk about the Bitterroot Elk Research Project and management implications. Representatives from the Montana State Houndsmen Association will also be present.

FWP will use the public input from the meeting to develop tentative quota recommendations that will be presented to the Fish and Wildlife Commission at its April 10 meeting. The Commission will finalize mountain lion quotas at its June 12 meeting.
