The Beartooth Recreational Trails Association is seeking permission from the Custer National Forest to groom a portion of the West Fork Rock Creek Road for Nordic skiing.
The group has a temporary special use permit to groom the road that expires Dec. 31. The new proposal is for authorization to continue grooming in 2011.
Grooming would begin at the winter gate closure and end at Cascade Campground. During the winter closure from Dec. 1 to April 15 the road is open to nonmotorized and snowmobile use.
The Beartooth Ranger District is seeking comments on the project. For additional information or for copies of the project prospectus, contact Jeff Gildehaus at the Beartooth Ranger District, 6811 U.S. Highway 212, Red Lodge, MT, 59068, or by phone at 446-2103.
