While the opportunities for motorized recreation vary across national forests, some rules apply everywhere.
Vehicles may drive off of a road or trail surface for the minimal distance needed to turn around or to allow another vehicle to pass. For the purpose of parking, vehicles may be driven off of a designated route up to the length of the vehicle and trailer as needed to park safely off of the road.
Additionally, campers may now drive up to 300 feet from an open route to access dispersed campsites providing they can do so without causing resource damage.
A new user-friendly color travel map for routes in the Little Belts is widely available at Forest Service offices, sporting goods stores, and OHV dealers. Maps for the rest of the forest are available at Forest Service offices and can also be accessed on the forest website at www.fs.fed.us/r1/lewisclark.
