Nine-year-old Cora Kilmer, of Lincoln, Nebraska, hiked along the Continental Divide National Scenic trail, south of Rogers Pass, on July 11 with her grandfather, Tom Kilmer, of Helena. The duo covered 8 miles.
Billings angler Carol A. Beam landed this 23-inch brown trout while fishing the Boulder River south of Big Timber on July 16. Fishing guide Captain Jeff Welke, of Livingston, placed her in great water with 25 browns and one whitefish caught and released throughout the day. She caught this fish on "old reliable" — a 1/4-ounce gold Thomas Cyclone lure tossed from an ultralight spinning rod.
John Rhymes was traveling through the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park with his wife, Brenda, when he captured these photos in 2016. Rhymes was a ranger at the Island Park Ranger Station in the early 1970s and worked at Yellowstone for about four years.
