Today is the last day to share your story about a favorite small-town eating spot and have a chance to win $25.
When you hit the road, where do you pull over for a pit stop?
Is there a favorite roadside cafe where the milkshakes start with real ice cream or where they make the gravy from scratch?
Have you found some backroads byway where the foods so fine it makes the trip worthwhile? Or is the roadside cafe an endangered species, its turf taken over by fast-food drive-ins and restaurant chains.
If you live in a small town, is the food at your local cafe worth bragging about?
The Billings Gazette is looking for your opinion on the best eating spots in towns of less than 5,000 in Montana and Northern Wyoming.
Describe the best road food on the menu. Give us an idea of the personality of the place and its decor.
For your effort, you could win $25, which just might be enough to cover dinner for two at your favorite cafe. Restaurant owners and employees may not submit entries about businesses where they work or that they own.
Be sure to mark your entry Road Food and include your name, address and both daytime and home phone numbers. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. July 11.
Bring your letter to the Features Department of The Billings Gazette at 401 N. Broadway.
Entries also may be faxed to the Features Department at 657-1208. Or e-mail them email@example.com.
