A Billings man has been charged with raping a 14-year-old runaway he met online.
Lonnie Bruce Shield Jr., 19, faces one count of sexual intercourse without consent, a felony. Justice of the Peace David Carter set bond at $75,000 on Tuesday.
Shield had sex with the teen, who had come to his house after running away from home, despite her telling him no, she told police. The teen stayed with Shield at his home on Laurel Road for four days.
In a statement to police, Shield said they had sex multiple times and that while he originally thought she was 16, he later learned she was 14. The sex continued, charges state.
The teen told police that she told Shield she was 14 the first time they met in person. The two met online.
Shield’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 24 in Yellowstone County District Court.
