A 35-year-old Billings woman has been charged with stabbing her boyfriend during an argument about who was more manly.

Amy Marie O'Connor appeared Tuesday in Yellowstone County District Court by video from the county jail and pleaded not guilty to felony assault with a weapon.

Judge Russell Fagg set bond at $12,000 after a prosecutor said O'Connor has two prior felony drug convictions.

According to court records, O'Connor was arrested May 6 after deputies were sent to a residence on Jim Street. The deputies found blood on the porch. O'Connor was found inside the residence with blood on her face and right hand.

There were also bloodstains and a blood trail inside the residence leading to the front door.

O'Connor was taken into custody. The deputies said they found two knives and a box cutter.

A short time later, a deputy went to Billings Clinic and spoke with O'Connor's boyfriend, identified in court records as R.H. He said the couple had been drinking and an argument broke out about "his soon-to-be ex-wife still being in his life," court records state.

O'Connor then started degrading R.H., and at one point said she was the "man" in their relationship. O'Connor then attacked him, he said, and bit him on the arm.

The man said he pushed O'Connor to the floor and held her down, trying to calm her, when "he felt something hit his leg, looked down and noticed he was bleeding profusely from his left shin," court records state.

R.H. said he then saw O'Connor holding a knife. He grabbed her by the wrist, he said, and after a brief struggle, let her go so he could leave for the hospital.
