Thirteen inmates are missing from the Fort Peck tribal jail in Poplar, the government said in a social media post on Thursday.
“The following individuals are on ESCAPE status from the Tribal Jail,” read the brief message on the Facebook page for the Fort Peck Tribal Court Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes. “BOLO,” the message continued. BOLO stands for “be on the lookout.”
The message then listed the first and last names of thirteen individuals. The post was made at 11:50 a.m. Thursday.
When reached by phone on Saturday, a staff member at the Fort Peck Adult Corrections department said she was not authorized to speak to the media and declined to confirm the details of the Facebook post.
Calls to the Poplar Police Department and the Wolf Point Police Department were not answered, and Fort Peck Police Captain Jim Summers did not immediately return a message left Saturday afternoon.
