A man threatened to kill his adult son with a machete on Thursday, prosecutors say.

Everett Eugene Andersen, 65, appeared in Yellowstone County Justice Court on assault with a weapon, a felony, and a misdemeanor partner or family member assault charge. Justice of the Peace Jeanne Walker set bond at $10,000.

Andersen had taken car batteries to his son’s home earlier in the day and asked to charge them, according to court documents. When they returned the batteries to the car, the car was parked in the middle of the roadway and the son declined to help. Andersen then became angry, retrieved a machete from the back of the car and threatened to kill his son with it, charges state.

Responding officers found the car still in the road blocking traffic and had it towed.

The incident took place near the 10th block of Walnut Grove Drive, a residential area immediately east of the Shiloh Crossing mall.
