A man was arrested and a woman was hospitalized with injuries after the vehicles they were driving collided on Lake Elmo Drive in Billings Heights early Wednesday.
The crash was reported to the Billings Police Department at 12:04 a.m. Wednesday. A 1998 silver Honda Accord was heading south on Lake Elmo Drive at a high rate of speed, driven by a 26-year-old man. It collided with a 1996 green Jeep Cherokee driven by a 22-year-old woman that was also heading south on Lake Elmo Drive, according to police Sgt. Shawn Finnegan.
After the collision, one of the vehicles broke off a power pole on the west side of Lake Elmo Drive and a house at 393 Windsor Circle South was hit by a vehicle. No residents were injured. The Jeep came to rest on its top, which was flattened.
The male driver ran away. The female driver was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Healthcare with injuries that were not life-threatening, Finnegan said in a news release.
Officers found the man in the neighborhood. He had sustained minor injuries. He was arrested and faces charges of probation violation, criminal endangerment, DUI, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest.
Lake Elmo Drive was closed while the power pole and power lines were repaired.
Finnegan said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
