Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks' annual game harvest survey is under way, and the agency expects the phone survey to continue into early April. Surveyors have made about 20 percent of the necessary survey contacts so far.
The hunter harvest survey is an essential part of the hunting season cycle. FWP wildlife biologists and managers use the information from the survey to estimate the annual wild game harvest and to recommend quotas for upcoming hunting seasons.
FWP wildlife biometrician Robin Russell said that about 80,000 Montana households are contacted.
This year the survey calls will be made from calling centers in Bozeman and Helena. The simple telephone survey takes about five minutes to complete.
