Hunters and anglers now have a central location where Montana hunting and fishing information can be found - the new Montana Hunting and Fishing Journal Web site at www.huntingandfishingjournal.org.
A joint project between the Montana Wildlife Federation and the National Wildlife Federation, the site has been developed due to the lack of a centralized site where sportswomen and sportsmen can obtain information about Montana fish and game, conservation issues and also exchange opinions and expertise through discussion groups or chat rooms. Users are also able to post classified ads through a bulletin board.
This site allows anyone to find hunting and fishing licensing information, species identification and advisories, weather reports, maps, river flow rates, helpful hints on hunting and angling, a place to exchange ideas and even recipes.
Ten volunteers also offer their experience with various aspects of hunting and fishing through the Ask an Expert question page.
The Montana Hunting and Fishing Journal restores an open forum for in-depth issue discussion with its chat room. A previous chat room on the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Web site was dropped when it became too political.
