A campaign to reteach America "The Star-Spangled Banner" hits town with a singing contest from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday during the Strawberry Festival at North Broadway and Second Avenue North.

The 2006 National Anthem Project Road Show is stopping in Billings as part of a nationwide tour to re-teach Americans the historical relevance and words of the National Anthem, while spotlighting the importance of school music.

Highlights will include:

  • Concert performances from Bozeman schoolchildren.
  • The National Anthem Project All-Star Contest for kids and adults, where one winner will be awarded a $1,000 donation to their local music program and given the opportunity to perform at a concert in Washington, D.C., in 2007.
  • Interactive activities from the History Channel that teach about the historical significance of the national anthem.
  • Jeep exhibit featuring a patriotic-themed Jeep Liberty and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
