Art House Cinema & Pub in downtown Billings is getting a box office bump from Singh Contracting.
The local contractor is offering $200,000 to help Art House Cinema add two screens and redesign its pub space. The hope is that with its pledge, Art House Cinema will be able to raise the same amount first.
"I believe in downtown and I plan to do all that I can to help invoke change and progress," Harvey Singh said in a statement.
Singh owns the contracting firm, Outward Media Group, Seva Kitchen and Limitless Group Reality, all Billings-based businesses.
Art House Cinema opened three years ago as a nonprofit independent film theater and currently has only one screen. This new project, known as Phase 2, would triple its screening space. Phase 2 also includes construction of a performance stage, additional space for events and specialized gathering space.
"Harvey and his passion to support our work is not only proof of that belief but hopefully it will stir even more people to get behind our vision of film, art, and culture in this city that we love," Matt Blakeslee, executive director of Art House, said in a statement.
