Vern Wallace and Mara Lovelace of Billings claimed the $1 million grand prize for Montana Millionaire lottery game in Helena on Tuesday.
Wallace, 35, bought their winning ticket at the McFiny's convenience store at 1711 17th St. West.
Wallace said he has played Montana Millionaire for the past few years. This year, he said he purchased one ticket for Lovelace, 33, and one ticket for himself in December. His ticket was the lucky one, but he said they definitely plan to share the winnings. They drove to Helena to claim their prize.
“My mom flipped out,” Wallace told lottery officials.
"She was jumping around the house, hugging me every 15 seconds,” Lovelace added.
They are the third grand prize winners from Billings -- and the youngest. They said they plan to buy a house with the winnings and invest the remainder.
The Montana Millionaire drawing was Jan. 1 and included the $1 million grand prize as well as four $100,000 prizes and four $10,000 prizes. An Early Bird drawing for one additional $10,000 prize was November 25. A total of 120,637 Montana Millionaire tickets were sold before the Dec. 31 deadline.
