A 53-year-old Billings man died early Sunday morning after crashing his motorcycle on Neibauer Road.

Richie Klein died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head, according to Yellowstone County Coroner Cliff Mahoney.

The Montana Highway Patrol believes Klein failed to negotiate a right-hand curve on Neibauer when he crashed at about 1:30 a.m. near the road's intersection with Esther Rose Lane, a street located south of ZooMontana.

Klein had been eastbound when he went off the left side of the road, rolling his motorcycle. The motorcycle eventually came to a rest on the shoulder of the eastbound side of the road, per an MHP crash narrative.

Klein was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. MHP is investigating the possibility speed was a factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
