A Billings man who staged a robbery to steal store receipts pleaded guilty Friday to theft charges in District Court.
Prosecutors said Jacob Ross Pierce left The Tilt, a Rimrock Mall business, on March 31 with two bank deposit bags containing $4,626.
He told police that somebody had hit him on the back of the head and when he awoke the money was gone.
Pierce later admitted that he had staged the robbery and hit himself over the head with a flashlight.
District Judge Gregory Todd set a sentencing hearing for Dec. 12.
