A Billings man arrested when four large marijuana plants were found in his car appeared Thursday in Justice Court, where bond was set at $20,000.
Shawn R. Palmer, 35, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in District Court on charges of felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to deliver and of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
According to court records, Palmer was driving a car in the 7000 block of Grand Avenue at about 1 a.m. Thursday when a sheriffs deputy noticed two cars fail to stop at a stop sign. The deputy said the cars seemed to be traveling together.
The deputy stopped the car driven by Palmer and, while approaching the vehicle, noticed four large marijuana plants inside. The plants were between 1-1/2 and 3 feet tall. The car also contained planting pots and a bag of soil. Palmer was arrested at the scene.
Palmer told the deputy about seeing the plants up on the Rimrocks earlier in the week and returning that night to get them.
Police said they later searched Palmers home on Clark Avenue and found several marijuana pipes, marijuana seeds and what appeared to be marijuana, according to an affidavit.
