A fun run to benefit a program that helps teen mothers is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday at Josephine Crossing.
Participants in the YoungLives Colorful Fun Run 5K will begin the event, hopefully wearing white, said YoungLives director Jenny Dow.
At each kilometer mark, runners will encounter a cloud of non-toxic powdered paint. Participants are invited to an after party and paint throw.
The idea is to get colorful, Dow said, while raising money for YoungLives, a program that provides teenage moms with support and mentoring.
Dow said the group also is trying to get the word out about the support available to teenagers with babies.
“I know that with a toddler, you can feel isolated,” Dow said. “This group is kind of left out.”
The group, an offshoot of Christian fellowship group Young Life, which will use the money to help pay for teen moms to attend a summer camp with their child and a mentor.
The first 350 people to sign up will get a T-shirt.
Entry fee is $30 and 100 percent will go to support YoungLives.
Register at colorfulfunrun.com. Race day registration also will be available beginning at 9 a.m.
Dow said they also are seeking a few volunteers to help out with the race.
