A Billings man who was found apparently shot to death outside of his far-West End workshop on Friday night has been identified as Frank Richey Greene, said Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office Lt. Bill Jones, the county coroner.
He declined to release further details on Greene's death, citing the ongoing investigation, and referred further questions to either Sheriff Mike Linder or investigating detectives.
Linder did not discuss specifics of the case on Sunday afternoon, other than to say that deputies finished up at the scene of the shooting, on the 800 block of Homewood Park Drive, by the end of Saturday and several detectives continued to work the case.
"We’re still definitely actively investigating and there’s nobody in custody at the this time," he said.

Greene's girlfriend said she thought he was outside working on a vehicle when she came outside to check on him and found him dead a little before 11 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, Lt. Kent O'Donnell said that Greene apparently suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
Homewood Park Drive sits south of the 7400 block of Grand Avenue.
Not long after the woman called 911, Billings police found a pickup truck that matched the description of one a neighbor reported leaving the area near where Greene's body was found.
At a nearby convenience store, officers took into custody the man who was driving and Linder said he was released later that day. They also arrested a woman he met there and she is being held on an outstanding warrant.
