Three Billings teenagers are accused of attacking a city police officer in the Rimrock Mall parking lot while the officer was trying to arrest one of them.
Officer Tanner Buechler received a blow to the back of the head and injuries to his arm and hand during the incident on Jan. 22, court records state. The teens were subdued by the officer with help from mall security officers.
The three teenagers — Larry Neal Archuleta, 18; his brother, Richard Alan Archuleta, 17; and 15-year-old Marlin Sundance Parker — were charged Tuesday in District Court with felony assault on a peace officer. They are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
Deputy County Attorney Christopher Morris said Parker and Richard Archuleta are being held in the youth detention center on $5,000 bond each. Larry Archuleta is at the Yellowstone County jail on a $50,000 bond. All three teens face an alternative felony charge of assault on a peace officer by accountability.

According to court records, Buechler was sent to Rimrock Mall after police received information that Parker had escaped from the youth detention center and had been seen at the mall. The officer found the teens and asked them to accompany him to his patrol car. After verifying Parker's identity, the officer told the boy he was being taken into custody and began to place him in handcuffs.
The brothers are accused of attacking the officer, punching him in the back of the head and trying to grab his pistol. Buechler kept control of the firearm, but he was “unable to access it due to the attack,” court records state.
Security officers from the mall eventually came to Buechler's aid and the teens were arrested.
