Laurel crash

Laurel fire fighters try to recover a vehicle from the Billings Bench Water Association ditch off of 64th Street West and Laurel Airport Road Sunday morning. The car rolled off of 64th throwing the driver who was taken to a Billings hospital. The crash was found by a man walking his dog according to firemen at the scene. June 8, 2014 .

A man is in critical condition after a crash off 64th Street West and Laurel Airport Road.

The driver, who was alone, took a curve too fast, overcorrected and left the road, landing in a ravine below. The vehicle, a Chevy Avalanche, rolled into the Billings Bench Water Association ditch.

The incident was called in around 8:30 a.m. Sunday by a man who was walking his dog in the area and noticed the vehicle in the water and the man on a ravine above.

It is unknown exactly when the crash occurred.

The 20-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle, missing the ditch. He was found unconscious but still breathing, according to Montana Highway Patrol trooper Ben Panas.

It is unknown where the driver currently lives, but his Chevy Avalanche had Nebraska plates.

The driver was transported to Billings Clinic. The crash remains under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or speed was a factor.
