The new members of a Billings School District 2 Board committee met for the first time Monday night and began discussing issues such as student enrollment, school consolidation and school boundaries.
The Planning and Development Committee, which is led by Trustee Kathy Aragon and has 12 members, is tasked with examining and identifying potential problems the district could face.
“I would like to see us … look forward, over a longer range, and look at what’s best for SD2,” Aragon said.
Sitting on the committee are parents, district employees, county officials and teachers. Aragon told them she wants them to keep their eyes on the “big picture” to help the district move intelligently into the future.
As they explore issues, the committee will then make recommendations for action to the board. Trustees will the then vote to accept or reject the committee’s recommendations.
