Billings School District 2 officials have said there is no truth to rumors that a West High student had a "hit list" of peers whom she wanted to kill.
Speaking at SD2's board meeting on Monday night, Scott Anderson, director of secondary education for the district, said the rumors — which started circulating late last week — had spread around West High, but the district found no evidence to support them.
The Billings Police Department addressed the rumors this morning on its Facebook page.
"West High school officials and the Billings Police Department have been actively handling these reports," the message reads. "All information has been investigated and appropriately handled. There was no 'Hit List' and no guns or weapons were ever located or involved in any of the reports. All persons suspected of adverse behavior have been interviewed and cleared."
