Five deaths and one cat story: Gazette editor Darrell Ehrlick's favorite stories from 2019

From the 2019: The year in review series

Billings Gazette editor Darrell Ehrlick shares his favorite stories from 2019.

And what happens when a historian writes newspaper articles? Well, the stories may have been published in 2019, but with the exception of Louie the Cat, the stories are really about events much more than a year old. In fact, of the five history stories, the most recent one happened in 1950.

But, Montana has great stories to tell and part of those can be found sitting in the archives of its newspapers and in the basement of its museums.
