The 23rd annual free Youth Fishing Jamboree is scheduled to take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, in the boat ramp area at Lake Elmo State Park. The event is open to children age 5 to 14. A parent or other adult guardian must accompany each child.
The jamboree will provide fishing safety and instruction from Billing’s “First Lady of Fishing” Carol Henckel, assisted by volunteer leaders from Montana Pike Masters, Walleyes Unlimited, Magic City Fly Fishers, Montana Audubon and YMCA/Kiwanis canoeing.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will provide free fishing — no fishing license is required. Fishing poles will be shared with those in need, according to a press release from the Billings Kiwanis Club.
Participation is limited to the first 120 to register at Cabela’s, the Billings Family YMCA, or online at billingskiwanis.org.
The event is co-sponsored by Cabela’s, Walleyes Unlimited, Montana Pike Masters, Magic City Fly Fishers, the Billings Kiwanis Club, Pepsi Cola, Pryor Creek Bait Co., Montana Audubon and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.
