There’s still time to sign up for the Heart and Sole Run set for Saturday morning.
The event, marking its 35th year, includes a 5K, 10K and 2-mile fitness walk, with the 5K beginning at 8 a.m. in front of St. Vincent Healthcare.
“For the 35th year, we want to get 3,500 runners and walkers,” said Dave Irion, St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation president and CEO.
“We want to encourage families and their fathers to sign up,” he said.
In-person registration is still available at the Mansfield Health Education Center, 2900 12th Ave. N. Sign-ups and packet pickup will continue until 6 p.m. on Friday.
There’s no registration on race day.
Karen Sanford Gall of Montana Amateur Sports said Thursday that sign-ups are ahead of last year. More teams also have signed up. By Thursday, more than 3,276 had signed up.
The race ends at Dehler Park, where the Montana Active Life Festival will be underway from 8 a.m. to noon.
The fair features a climbing wall and Zumba demonstrations as well as many vendors promoting healthy and active lifestyles. Organizations include Steep World, NOVA, the YMCA and many others.
There’s no cost to attend the festival.
Proceeds raised by the Heart and Sole go to the YMCA and to BikeNet.
Last year, the Billings Family YMCA’s Strong Community Campaign received a check for $15,000, while BikeNet received $12,643.55.
Presenting sponsors of the Heart and Sole are Billings Gazette Communications and St. Vincent Healthcare Heart and Vascular Center.
