Indulge your love for dogs on Tuesday through Thursday as Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club presents the Eastern Montana Copper Circuit Cluster Confir-mation show at MetraPark's Expo Center.
The American Kennel Club-sanctioned show features hundreds of purebred dogs being judged on how well they meet standards for their individual breeds.
Judging starts at 8 a.m. all three days. And as many as eight rings of dogs will be being judged at a time.
Each day's competition winds up in the group ring for judging at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, 2 p.m. Wednesday and 1:45 p.m. Thursday.
Vendors will have booths with a variety of items. Dog shows also offer an opportunity to talk with dog owners, breeders and handlers about the varieties of animals in which they are involved or to learn more about the Billings-based Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club.
From the tiny breeds, such as Chihuahuas, miniature pinschers and Yorkshire terriers, to the giants, such as Bullmastiffs, Great Pyrenees, Great Danes and Newfoundlands, the public can see the broad range of sizes, coats and colors of the dog world.
The show will include sporting breeds, such as Vizslas, pointers and retrievers; herders, such as Shetland sheepdogs, bearded collies, Belgian Tervurens and border collies; terriers, from Parsons Russell terriers to Cairns; toy breeds, from Papillons to Pomeranians; hounds, from Salukis and whippets to Ibizan hounds; to nonsporting dogs, such as bulldogs and poodles; and working breeds, from Samoyeds to Schnauzers.
Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club is an all breed-kennel club licensed by the American Kennel Club and serves southcentral Montana, but the show attracts dogs from far beyond that area.
YVKC meets the first Thursday of each month and holds conformation and obedience events, along with fun matches and other activities throughout the year. Contact a club officer for meeting location and time.
