Three ambulances were dispatched Monday to Highway 87 outside MetraPark for a three-car crash, according to the Montana Highway Patrol
The crash snarled traffic west of the Dick Johnston Bridge after 6 p.m., when a Nissan Maxima, traveling westbound on Highway 87 hit a stopped Dodge Ram pickup. The pickup in turn rear-ended a Chevy Malibu from the impact of the Nissan, MHP Trooper David Hankins said.
Five people, 2 women and 3 men, were involved in the crash and suffered injuries, Hankins said. Three people in the Nissan were injured and taken to a Billings hospital, he said. The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital. Later the male driver of the Malibu checked himself into a hospital complaining of neck and back pain, Hankins said. In total, all five people involved were injured with not life-threatening injuries.
MHP is still investigating the crash as of Wednesday, Hankins said. Alcohol is suspected as a factor on the part of the Nissan driver.
