Man in court on assault charge A Wyola man accused of swinging a knife at a nightclub bouncer was charged Friday in Justice Court with assault with a weapon.
Judge Donald Bjertness set bond at $15,000 for Truman Jefferson, 27.
According to court records, the bouncer on Friday escorted Jefferson and another man out of Desperados, 145 Regal St., after they were causing problems at a poker table. Once outside, witnesses said, Jefferson pulled out a knife and started waving it around and yelling. He tried at least three times to stab the bouncer, witnesses said.
Police were called to the scene and arrested Jefferson, who prosecutors said is also known as "Boogie."
Man charged in meth case A 45-year-old Billings man accused of operating a methamphetamine lab was charged Friday in Justice Court.
Jerry Allen Jeffries, 931 Cook Ave., was charged with felony operation of a clandestine laboratory and criminal possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Judge Donald Bjertness set bond at $30,000 and ordered Jeffries to appear Tuesday for arraignment in District Court.
According to court records, Jeffries was arrested Thursday after police searched the home he shares with his wife, 44-year-old Gloria Jean Jeffries, and found large amounts of chemicals and equipment used in manufacturing methamphetamine. Prosecutors said police found a coffee grinder containing remains of pseudoephedrine, a key ingredient in manufacturing meth.
Also found were several baggies of marijuana and a marijuana pipe, prosecutors said.
Gloria Jeffries on Thursday pleaded innocent to four drug-related charges in District Court. Prosecutors said police found marijuana, a methamphetamine pipe and a shopping list for chemicals used in manufacturing meth in her purse.
