In 2013, Billings claimed fewer high school students also enrolled in college courses than any other comparable community in Montana.
Called dual enrollment, it's a concept that aims to give high school students a head start in post-secondary education.

Billings-area high school and college officials have started within the last year a push to expand such opportunities for local students and are hopeful to have new programs in place by this fall to address the low numbers.
Studies indicate that students who take college-level courses while in high school are more successful once they become college students and Billings officials hope they can provide those same opportunities to their students.
