VIRGINIA CITY - The Elling House Arts and Humanities Center presents a mid-winter holiday gathering, "The Splendid Feast," at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20. The evening will commence with a wassail punch social, followed by a four-course dinner prepared by area chefs.
Guests will hear the jazz piano offerings of recording artist Steve Hulse in the richly decorated Elling House dining room.
This event is a fundraiser for the newly established Elling House Cultural Center in the historic mansion of pioneer mining entrepreneur and banker Henry Elling and his wife Martha Cooley Elling.
An orphan, Elling emigrated from Germany at age 15 and arrived in Montana Territory in 1864. At his death in 1900, he was one of the most wealthy and respected businessmen in Montana.
