The U.S. Postal Service is promoting Alzheimer's awareness with a new 42-cent stamp issued recently and now available at all post offices.
The stamp features an illustration of an elderly female Alzheimer's patient with the hand of a caregiver gently touching her left shoulder. The stamp was designed by art director Ethel Kessler who worked with illustrator Matt Mahurin to draw attention to the importance of caregivers in the lives of Alzheimer's victims.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Billings' main post office will hold an Alzheimer's informational event.
Customers may obtain the Alzheimer's Awareness stamp and all new stamps at their local post office, by credit card by calling 800-STAMP-24 or at www.usps.com/shop.
