Organizers are asking for help raising funds for Lockwood Middle School's annual music festival.

This year will be the eighth annual Yellowstone County Middle School Music Festival, set for Saturday, March 2.

The event provides students in grades 6-8 who attend schools in the greater Billings area the opportunity to participate in a solo and ensemble music festival.

The festival offers not only a performance opportunity, but also a chance for students to receive constructive feedback from adjudicators.

Participating area schools in past years include:

  • Canyon Creek
  • Lockwood
  • St. Francis
  • Independent
  • Belfry
  • Elder Grove
  • Blue Creek
  • Elysian
  • Huntley Project
  • Billings Christian

According to a press release from festival organizers, several costs are incurred when hosting a music festival, including adjudicator fees totaling approximately $800; printing schedules, adjudication forms and certificates; and refreshments for the music teachers, volunteers and adjudicators.

To help offset the costs of the music festival for the participating schools, financial contributions toward the music festival are being accepted.

Anyone wishing to donate should mail a check, payable to Lockwood School with “music festival” on the memo line, to Eileen Johnson Middle School, Attn: Q Staton, 1932 U.S. Highway 87 E., Lockwood, MT 59101.

For more information, contact Q Staton at Lockwood Middle School by calling 259-0154.
