BOZEMAN - The $18,000 musical instrument that disappeared after David Grisman's concert in Big Sky last weekend has come home - by United Parcel Service.

The package was waiting for Grisman at his home Thursday night, his manager, Craig Miller, told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.

"There was a note with it that said, 'We tripped over your mandola in the parking lot and didn't realize whose it was until we got home.' " Miller said. "Yeah right."

The custom-made Model 5 Gilchrist Mandola, similar to a mandolin, disappeared from backstage while Grisman was signing autographs after his quintet performed. Word spread worldwide on the Internet, and Miller said he's certain the attention forced the return of the mandola.
