LAUREL -- Laurel firefighters extinguished a mobile home fire early Friday and are working to figure out how it started.

A family of five escaped the fire and went to the home of a neighbor, who called 911. No injuries were reported.

Assistant Chief Terry Ruff said the fire, at 710 Fir Ave., was reported at about 5:15 a.m.

Two engines, support vehicles and about 15 firefighters responded.

Deputy Fire Marshal and Engineer Rlynn Halvorson said that, when firefighters arrived, flames were coming from a window and then moved into the roof. The structure is a total loss, Halvorson said.

He said later in the day that the fire does not appear to have been started intentionally. Investigators have a good idea of the cause but Halvorson said that information won't be released until they make an official determination.
