Montana State University Billings has hired a new dean for the College of Business to officially start the job in July. 

Elaine Labach will start July 8 and takes over from interim dean Ed Garding. Garding has been interim since July 2018, when he replaced Diane Duin as interim dean of the business school. 

Labach holds a doctorate in operations management from Indiana University School of Business. She has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State University.

Labach is the dean of the Frost School of Business at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. She also served as an associate dean and associate professor at Fort Lewis College.

“We look forward to having Dr. Labach’s leadership in the College of Business,” MSUB Provost Melinda Arnold said. “She will work to further strengthen and expand our relationships with the business community in Billings and eastern Montana.”

Members of the search committee for the dean of the College of Business were Susan Balter-Reitz, Mike Campbell, Rakesh Sah, Anna Talafuse, Mary Susan Fishbaugh, Heather Thompson, Sarah Keller and Shannon Wilcox.
