The Native American Achievement Center at Montana State University Billings invites the community to participate in the building of this year’s Veterans Medicine Wheel.
The ninth annual Veterans Medicine Wheel event will begin in library room 231 at 11:45 a.m. on Friday. The opening ceremony will include narration of the story of the medicine wheel, presentation of flags and pledge of allegiance by MSUB ROTC color guard and musical performances by MSUB students.
After the opening ceremony, attendees are invited to gather on the north lawn outside of the College of Education building to help build a medicine wheel in honor of veterans and those serving in the military. Participants are encouraged to dedicate a stone to a veteran in their life by writing the veteran’s name on a rock and placing it in the medicine wheel.
According to a news release from MSUB, the event honors veterans’ service and symbolizes their spiritual, mental, emotional and physical restoration of balance with their community supporting them throughout the process.
This event is free and will take place regardless of weather.
