The Billings Police Department is investigating the death of a woman found Friday afternoon in an alley between the Police Department and the Park 3 parking garage.
Lt. Mark Cady said that at about 2:30 p.m., a private contractor working in City Hall contacted police, saying there was a woman lying in the alley between Second and Third avenues north. The woman either fell or jumped from the top of the north side of the Park 3 parking garage into the dead-end alley, which runs perpendicular to the main north-south-running alley, Sgt. Mitch Hart said.
The woman did not have a pulse when emergency crews arrived and was declared dead at the scene, Cady said. As of 3:15 p.m., police had not identified the woman, and Cady declined to estimate her age, describing her only as white.
After interviewing witnesses and people in the garage at the time of the death, police do not suspect foul play, Hart said. The Yellowstone County Coroner's Office is working to identify the woman.
