The Northern Plains Resource Council's two-day annual meeting beginning Friday in Billings will feature panel discussions about coal and clean energy.
The conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock will be the opening speaker at 1 p.m. Friday. Bullock's talk is free.
The keynote speaker will be Sandra Steingraber, a scientist and cancer survivor, who will talk at 12:45 p.m. Saturday about pollution and its effects on human health. Admission to her presentation is $10 at the door.
NPRC members also will hold a clean energy rally at 8 a.m. Saturday in front of the Crowne Plaza at the corner of North 27th Street and First Avenue North. The rally will precede morning panel discussions on "The Hidden Costs of Coal" and "A Blueprint for the Transition Away from Dirty Energy."
