The Carbon County Sheriff's Office is investigating an alleged homicide that occurred south of Red Lodge along U.S. Highway 212, Sheriff Josh McQuillan stated in a press release Thursday.
A Carbon County Sheriff's Office investigation closed a portion of U.S. Highway 212 Wednesday evening.
About 12 miles south of Red Lodge the road is closed between mile marker 56 and mile marker 60.
The area is closed "as part of an ongoing investigation," according to a press release from Carbon Coutny Sheriff Josh McQuillan. "There is no threat to the public. This is a developing story and I will update with details when I'm available. Thank you for your patience."
McQuillan described the closure area in the release as "near mile marker 60 south."
The closure went into effect at 5:15 p.m., according to a Montana Department of Transportation road update.
